  • The process of obtaining work permits is within the competence of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of North Macedonia and depending on the company headquarters or the planned place of residence of the worker, you can expect a work permit within 30 days but it is possible that this process takes up to 60 days. Agency has very little control of the duration.

  • Given the amount of employment requirements for foreign workers that increases every year and added pressure on the government officials, our recommendation is to plan hiring between 3 and 6 months before you have a real need for a foreign worker.

  • For nationals of third countries such as the Philippines, Nepal and India, as well for all African countries, not only a work permit is sufficient for their arrival, but it is necessary to obtain an entry visa. Depending on where the workers come from, the process of obtaining a visa to enter the Republic of North Macedonia can take up to 90 days.

  • First, you need to fill the QUERY letter about workers indicating the position, the number of workers and the name of your company. After agreement is signed between us then proceed with the process of selecting and interviewing candidates.There are also several requirements of the Law on Foreigners, which are implemented by the Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that we do for you. Arrange a meeting with our sales team who will explain in detail all the steps and conditions of the process.

  • Third-country citizens need a visa and work permit to enter North Macedonia, which means that everything depends on the speed of the institutions in charge of this process, namely the Ministry of the Interior, North Macedonian Employment Agency and the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in a third country. On average, a worker can start work between 60 and 120 days from the moment the employer applies.

  • During the recruitment process, we carefully pre-screen employees. We will arrange video interviews with employees you think are suitable. If the job requires specific skills, we will also provide you with the opportunity to verify the candidate’s skills by video during a work or test session.

  • Unique in North Macedonia, a significant part of our agency fee is only due once the employee has already started working for you. You will only have to pay 50% of the agency fee once the employee we have placed has worked his first month.
    The foreign worker’s work visa will be valid for your company.
    If they want to change jobs, it is a lengthy and costly process for them, so giving notice is a much more complicated issue than for a Macedonian worker. However, if you are unhappy, you can always decide to stop employing him, there is no special protection for foreign employees.

  • If you are not happy with the employee, we will send you somebody to replace them as soon as possible. Those replacements are valid for only one job position.

  • Of course, foreign workers enjoy all the same rights as workers who are nationals of the Republic of North Macedonia.

  • Our workers come mostly from India, Nepal, the Philippines, and Egypt, as well from Nigeria, republic of Kongo, Kenya, Ghana and other african countries.

  • Yes, once the worker obtains a work permit they can work in any part of North Macedonia.

  • The minimum wage for a foreign worker is the amount set by the Minimum Wage Act, which is EUR 367 net for 2024. Foreign workers are subject to all the same employee rights as Macedonian nationals. Additionally the average wage from our experience for a foreign worker is between EUR 600-700 NET.

  • To obtaining a work permit for a foreign worker the employer must provide accommodation for the worker. The accommodation must meet minimum living conditions and have to be paid by you. Additionally you will have to provide 3 daily meals for free, and free transportation to the workplace for the workers.If you cannot or do not wish to do this, we can arrange this for you as an additional service.

  • All the workers we place speak perfect English, most of them also speak French, so communication is not hindered by the lack of a common language. Additionally we offer intesive Macedonian language courses upon your request.

  • In North Macedonia , the rights of all workers are protected by law. It is important that you understand your rights while you are in North Macedonia as a temporary foreign worker.
    Here are a few things you need to know:

    Your employer must:

    ○ pay you for your work;
    ○ensure that your workplace is safe;
    ○give you break time and days off;
    ○respect the terms of your written contract.
    ○Provide you with free suitable accommodation, 3 free daily meals and free transportation from your accommodation to workplace and reverse daily
    ○Inform the Ministry of internal affairs of the date of your arrival, the duration of your contractand, if your departure date does not coincide with the end date of your contract of the date and reasons for your departure. He/she must record this information in the registration system or register that it maintains in accordance with the national and international regulation

    Your employer cannot:

    ○ force you to perform duties that you were not hired or trained to do;
    ○ force you to work if you are sick or injured;
    ○ take your passport or work permit away from you;
    ○ have you deported from North Macedonia or change your immigration status;
    ○make you pay them back for fees they paid to hire you.

  • For your protection, you must sign an employment contract with your employer before your arrival in North Macedonia . A contract is a legal document that contains the details of the working conditions that both you and your employer have agreed to. Both of you must respect the conditions in this agreement.

  • You are required to fulfill your employment contract. However, you have the right to look for a new job, while continuing to work for your employer. Your employer cannot penalize you or threaten to deport you for this. It is important to note, however, that if your employment contract has a fixed term and you leave before it expires, your employer may claim compensation from you. Your new employer will need permission from the Government of North Macedonia to hire you as a temporary foreign worker. You will also have to apply for a new work permit before changing jobs.

  • Your employer must give you notice 30 days prior to terminating your employment before the end of your contract. If not, your employer will have to pay you for the notice you did not receive (severance pay). Under exceptional circumstances, your employer may terminate your employment without notice. For example, in the event of circumstances beyond your control (such as, the company is destroyed by a fire), if you commit a serious offense justifying immediate dismissal (such as theft or fraud), or if you lied about your qualifications when you were hired or if you don't come to work 3 consecutive days without any notice. In this case the employer has a right to claim compensation from you! Important! If your employment has a fixed term and your employer dismisses you through no fault of your own before the end of the term, you may also be entitled to claim compensation equivalent to the earnings you were deprived of. If you lose your job through no fault of your own, or if you leave your job because you are a victim of abuse, contact us immediately!

  • All workers in North Macedonia have the right to a safe workplace. North Macedonia has laws to protect workers from unsafe working conditions. While some jobs may have more risk than others, no one should feel that the work they are doing is unsafe.

  • Questions to ask yourself:

    ●Do I have the training I need to do my job and to operate the equipment or machinery that I am using?
    ●Do I have the right safety equipment to do the job?
    ●Has my employer made my workplace as safe as possible?

  • You have the right to refuse to do work that you believe is a serious risk to your health or your safety. Your employer cannot force you to do work that you believe is dangerous. They cannot fire you or refuse to pay you. Your employer must investigate any danger that is reported in the workplace. You have the right to refuse to do the work until you and your employer agree that:

    ●the danger is removed;
    ●you have received the proper training; or
    ●the problem no longer exists.

    What if my employer does not agree that the work is dangerous?

    If you and your employer do not agree, report the situation to the workplace health and safety office or call our Worker Support 24/7. You can refuse to do work that you feel is dangerous until a provincial or territorial official from the workplace health and safety office tells you that it is safe.

  • If you have an accident at work, tell your supervisor or employer as soon as possible. See a doctor immediately if you believe you may need medical help.

    All employers offer workers’ compensation (medical or wage benefits) if you are hurt on the job or if your job causes you to get sick. If you do not yet qualify for the paid health care plan, your employer should provide you with private health insurance until you are covered. Your employer is not allowed to deduct any money from your pay for private health insurance.

  • Employers must provide adequate housing (For free) Housing can be onsite (e.g., dormitory) or offsite (e.g., commercial facility). Employers must ensure that the occupancy rate for each unit does not exceed the maximum occupancy rate allowed.

    It is possible that even if housing meets minimum standards, it is inadequate. If you feel that your accommodation does not meet your needs, talk to your employer first. If your request is not taken into consideration, you can report to our Worker Support 24/7

    You must keep the accommodations provided by the employer or its agent in the same safe, sanitary and functional conditions as when you received it.

    Your home must include:

    A heating system;
    Proper lighting;
    Proper ventilation;
    Basic appliance and household items: refrigerator, stove and oven, wash machine, utensils;
    A bathroom with shower, sink and toilet within the building;
    Drinking water;
    Hot and cold water;
    Basic furniture (table, chair, sofa, shelves);
    A private room or a room shared with other workers (bed with mattress, storage, bedding, towels);
    Telephone service;
    The Internet can be requested to the owner.
    For your safety and comfort, inform the owner of any breakage or defect.
    An employer does not have the right to make a surprise visit, except if it is an emergency. He must inform you.

    Fire prevention

    Always keep an eye on hot items such as irons and stoves while they are being used.
    When cooking, keep the pot lid nearby and use a timer to calculate the cooking time for food.
    Never place combustible objects on top of the stove or in the oven.
    At all times, avoid using an extension cord to plug in space heaters.
    Make sure that electrical appliance wires are not broken.
    Keep exits and stairways clear at all times. Keep personal items such as glasses, hearing aids, phones and keys near your bed in case you need to quickly evacuate at night.
    Do not remove smoke detectors.

  • Temporary foreign workers should receive coverage equivalent to other residents of North Macedonia .
